Residential Carpet Cleaning Services

Residential Carpet Cleaning Services

Often out of sight and out of mind, most people do not give much though to the carpeting in their home until it becomes a problem. Unfortunately, by this time, avoidable irreversible damage may have occurred. Acting like a giant air-filter, particulate floating about setting upon the surface and drop through. The damage happens when abrasive debris accumulate and are walked upon. Often referred to 'traffic wear', abrasive materials grand and scratch fibers. Although thorough vacuuming can remove a high percentage of dry soil, most people either do not vacuum properly or have poorly functioning equipment. The majority of vacuums tend to lose their ability of being effective as the canister or bag fills. Judging by how full most clients allow their vacuums to become, it is safe to assume that most do not fully understand the physics behind it. Furthermore, if one understood the benefit of frequent vacuuming, they would probably be doing it far more often. So the question often comes up among carpet cleaning professionals, 'should I pre-vacuum or not?' Even when clients claim to have vacuumed, producing a full bag or several canisters full of dry debris is not uncommon. Did you know that carpeting can hide up to one pound of debris per foot? Statistically, thorough commercial vacuuming is capable of removing upwards of  80% of dry soil accumulation. Now, imagine what happens when that carpeting becomes wet. Does the dry debris turn to mud? And does the technician take time to ensure that it is thoroughly extracted. Yes & No respectively. So, if vacuuming is capable of removing 3\4 of soil accumulation prior to hot water extraction, then why the hell do so many cleaners neglect this crucial process? Well, they either reject science or too damn lazy. I would suggest both. As a consumer, which would you rather have? There are plenty of cleaners that perform this service, but there are many more that do not. When calling, questioning vacuum practices is critical to receiving the best quality carpet and upholstery care possible. Furthermore, cleaners that insist on vacuuming are likely IICRC certified and fully realize it significance. Those that do not are ignorantly neglect.

In layman terms, a professional services should consist of four components. They are Thorough Vacuuming, Application of Pre-Spray, Mechanical Agitation and Extraction. Because there is more than one way to clean carpeting and upholstery in the home, how these four process are educated will vary from company to company, depending upon the type of equipment used. Regardless, these four must be present for deep carpet & upholstery cleaning to be done properly.

Thorough Vacuuming

As discussed above, vacuuming is the most under-rated aspect for professional carpet care. Thorough recovery of dry debris require slow passes with powerful, commercial equipment. A properly set beater bar creates mini earth quakes, cause loose soils to bounce. A powerful vacuum is capable of picking up sand, grit, dirt and other fine particles. Good vacuuming practices can remove nearly 80% of dry debris. It's only logical to remove it prior to applying moisture and turning.

Application of Pre-Spray

The well-learned and experienced technician hand-selects the optimal cleaning solution based upon observed soiling during the inspection process. The inexpensive hack defaults to harsh chemical treatment that should be reserved for trashed-out restoration purposes. When it comes to loosening dirt, obliterating sticky residue and eliminating offensive pet odor, the quality of cleaning products used will determine end results. Again, the hack often resort to the cheapest products, often containing high concentrations of residual residue.

Mechanical Agitation

Another process often neglected by the inexpensive cleaners is the agitation process. Imagine washing grimy dishes in a sink. Do you get better results with a scouring pad or without? Mechanical agitation is like a scouring pad for carpeting. Rotating at nearly 475 RPMs, the counter rotating brush machine gently carpeting, evening dispersing and scrubbing with a specially formulated pre-spray solution. Greatly enhancing the soil-suspension process, mechanical agitation will always produce far better results than those that do not. Does your carpet cleaner agitate? It should be a no-brainer.

Extraction

Most people are familiar with truck mounted steam cleaning and that is often the first thing one thinks of regarding carpet care. However, dry carpet cleaning provides extraction via special cleaning solutions that get absorbed into a cotton scrubbing pad. Both methods are capable of removing foreign soils, spots and traffic areas.

In retrospect, performing a full-detailed carpet cleaning service is a vary labor-intensive task. Although the bargain-basement or discount cleaner may appear to do a good job, they often leave behind large amounts of soil and residue. Only the well-learned expert has the integrity and enthusiasm to do it 'by the book'. The certified, licensed and insured company will always produce satisfactory results compared to the cheap rat bastard.
