Home Improvement Company Near Me

With so many stranded at home these days, people are looking for ways to improve the well-being of their living environment. Google has indicated a HUGE increase for searches involving 'Home Improvement Company Near Me'. What many people do not realize is that the air-quality of a living spaces is dramatically related to foreign soils trapped in area rugs, carpeting and upholstery. Acting as air-filters, textiles in the home, office and work place continually trap air-born particulates as they settle upon their surface. A quick gander under an area rug on a hard surface should testify to this phenomenon. Although frequent vacuuming helps, it does not account for sticky residue caused by food droppage, spills, foot traffic and pets. It turns out that professional truck mount steam cleaning is one of the most affordable home improvements one can make during these uncertain times. While the family is spending more time indoors, improving indoor air-quality is critical to maintaining a healthy immune system.

Why not rent a Walmart Rug Doctor?
Here's the scoop on Do-It-Yourself Carpet Care... You're not a professional. Sure, anyone can attend YouTube University and watch a few videos but the problem is do to misinformation. Many home-remedy conconctions circulating the WEB are down-right dangerous, potentially causing bleach stains or worse. Secondly, there is always a concern for cross-contamination from a previous user. Did a previous customer have bedbugs, fleas or lice? Hopefully there is a system in place for sanitizing inexpensive carpet cleaning machine rentals. Taking pride in their expensive truck mounted systems, the local owner operator is in a constant stat of maintenance repair and sanitization. Carpet Steam Cleaning tools are far more expensive than the low-cost of Rug Doctor nonsense. How is it possible for an electrical unit to ever compare to the raw power generated my a gas or diesel engine? Unfortunately, low-cost will continue to draw the uneducated, like flies to fresh horse manure. Claiming to save customers up to $200 over hiring an expert, Rug Doctor continues to blast lower-income communities fraudulent advertising. Did you know that the average rental machine is nearly $125 after all the appropriate upgrades, cleaners, taxes and fees? Compared to a professional service, Rug Doctor is one of the greatest con-artists plagueing today's society.

Rug Doctor: Low-Quality Cleaning Solution
As a professional carpet cleaner with 16-years experience, my biggest pet peeve is the residue issue caused by home cleaning products such as Resolve and Rug Doctor. First of all, let me describe what this stick residue actually is and where it comes from. Everytime you walk into the house, residue on shoes are being brought inside and wiped onto the carpeting. Petroleum from auto-oils is an example of residue. Sugar from spilled drinks and dropped food grease are other types of residue. Additionally, over-the-counter cleaners all contain materials containing high concentrations of residue. And with 'Green & Organic' being heavily abused for marketing purposes, labels on bottles can not even be trusted these days. The issue with residue is not a health risk. Residue develop a fine layer over area rugs, carpeting and upholstery, causing dust particulates to cling like a magnet. No amount of heavy vacuuming can remove accumulation once adhered to the residue. In retrospect, residue is the number one cause of dingy looking, tired and 'uglied-out' carpeting & upholstery. Ever notice how a clean-appearing area quickly became nasty looking over a short period of time? This was due to the residual residue in cheaply manufactured products. If residual residue is responsible for rapid re-soiling and ugly appearance, why would anyone think it would be a good idea to use it all over the home?

Rug Doctor: Inherently Flawed
Another pet peeve with Bissell, Hoover and Rug Doctor are the intentionally bad instructions. Marketing towards low-income communities and the uneducated, do-it-yourself carpet cleaning alternatives are continually gaining popularity. Unfortunately, they deliberately mislead, causing rapid-soiling to occur. This is done by instructing to mix soapy cleaning solution with the rinse water. Ever try washing hands with soapy water? Rinsing carpeting & upholstery is the number one culprit for rapid re-soiling. Rug Doctor instructs the user to sabotage themselves. Great marketing strategy. However, the cleaning method can be improved upon by taking note of how a professional service technician performs the application of cleaning solution. Rather than mixing cleaning solution into the fresh water tank, mix the solution into a garden pump-up sprayer and apply it to the carpeting as a separate step. Rinsing the soapy solution from the carpeting with fresh water will improve results. Apparently Mr Rug Doctor is not a doctor of anything.

How Carpet Cleaning Works
Hopefully the previous information  would be enough to steer one from botched do-it-yourself carpet cleaning home improvement attempts. I want to explain how physics and chemistry can be used to improve carpet cleaning results. Having 16-years in the professional carpet cleaning industry, maximizing results is extremely important and can be summed up in FOUR-PHASES. While some local cleaner boast multiple steps and cleaning methodologies, there are primarily four processes that create the recepit for a five-star carpet cleaning service.

  1. Dry Soil Removal
  2. Cleaning Solution Application
  3. Mechanical Agitation
  4. Extraction
Dry Soil Removal
Often neglected even by professional experts, commercial vacuuming is essential for removing up to 70% of dry debris accumulation from area rugs and carpeting. Did you know that carpeting can hide up to one pound of debris per foot? What do you suppose happens to heavily soiled carpeting when it become wet? Does it become a soupy mess? With that in mind, I would at least expect Rug Doctor to at least recommend vacuuming carpets for the purposes of eliminating much of the contamination. Notice how the water is always filthy regardless of how many passes are made? Why not remove up to 70% of the filth prior to getting started with a thorough vacuuming. Then again, stupid is as stupid does. At least the Home Depot suggests vacuuming, unlike Rug Doctor. However, still subpar carpet care using terrible solutions, in my humble opinion.

Cleaning Solution Application
Not even giving this a thought, most people do not even consider the chemicals being used to clean carpeting and upholstery in the home. However, the quality of cleaning products are key to loosening dirt, obliterating residue and eliminating offensive odor. Top-tier cleaners are superior to cheaply manufactured ones and offer a far greater bang for the buck. Additionally, they are much healthier to breathe. Once applied, dwell time is required for the chemical to effectively start loosening and emulsify nasties. As mentioned above, this process should always be done independently from the rinse water tank. Shame on Home Depot and Rug Doctor for ignorance.

Mechanical Agitation
An often over-looked process in a five-star carpet cleaning service is agitation. To the uneducated consumer, the absence o f this crucial process would go completely unknown, something every cheap carpet cleaner hopes goes unnoticed. Think about cleaning dishes in the kitchen sink. Fill the sink with hot water and add dawn dish soap. A dirty plate is dipped into the soapy water, scrubbed with an SOS pad and then rinsed-off in the other side. This process is more or less the same process taken with wall to wall steam cleaning. The scrubbing action of the cleaning solution breaks down dirt,    grime and sticky residue. The mechanical agitation of a cylindrical brush machine scrubs carpeting, maximizing the ability of green cleaning solutions. The reason many companies do not provide this service is purely an issue of greed. Agitation equipment is both costly and requires additional effort. For those prioritizing quantity over quality,  the question of agitation is not even an issue; they simply ignore it. However, the owner-operator often provides mechanical agitation at no additional cost for the purpose of complete customer satisfaction and out-performing the franchised competition. However, not every business with a five-star reputation is willing to perform this level of craftsmanship. For those seeking to squeeze a little more value from home improvement efforts, calling nearby companies and learning about cleaning process is the most affordable choice one can make.

Extraction
The first thought most people have, concerning professional carpet care, is a long hose attached to a wand going to a van. For the low-priced rat bastard, this may be the only process used to clean carpets and upholstery in the home. For the professional, this is actually the final step in a series of preparations required to properly treat, loosen and remove contaminated soils.
